Octavia Spencer, an Oscar, Golden Globe, Screen Actors Guild, Critics Choice, National Board of Review and BAFTA award-winning actor, has spoken openly about her struggles with dyslexia and how it has affected both her life and acting career.
Dyslexia was challenging for Ms. Spencer, particularly when it came to reading and writing, but she also credits dyslexia as the thing that helped to strengthen her resolve and shape her into the person she is today. Despite her difficulties with reading and writing, Spencer has persevered and has become a highly successful actress, appearing in 141 popular films and television shows, has produced 12 films, and directed 2 short films.
